ASKO Catering Norwegian Cup 2024

ASKO Servering Norgescup is also known as the National Championship for Chef and Waiter Apprenticeships. The competition is held every autumn where qualifying competitions are held at various associations in the Norwegian Chefs' Association (NKL). The winning teams are qualified to participate in the finals held in Stavanger. NKL associations that had 12 or more teams registered for the local competition can field two teams in the semi-finals. Each team consists of two apprentices and a team leader. The tasks must be challenging for the apprentices at all levels, in relation to the apprentice's level of competence, and satisfy the requirements in the curriculum and competence plan for VG3 (nkl.no).

This year's final was held on February 16th to 17th in Stavanger, where the winning teams from the qualifications competed in the final for a podium place.

Sponsor for apprentices from Le Bistro, Trondheim

In connection with the ASKO Servering Norgescup 2024, Tomatosharp was proud sponsor of the apprentices Thorvald Gabestad Nørsett, Håkon Lie Knotten and team leader Sander Øen Omberg who qualified for the final after winning 1st place in the Trondheimscup where there were 17 participating teams.

The final in Stavanger The apprentices from Le Bistro had an impressive performance in the competition and landed a strong 2nd place on the podium in the end. They also won the KuttMatSvinn award and the award for best collaboration with the waiter team.

About the KuttMatsvinn Award
Matvett, the Norwegian Chefs' Association and ASKO Servering awarded the "KuttMatsvinn" award to the team that had the least food waste and a clear plan to reduce its food waste (nkl.no).

The team won the award on the basis that the cooking team clearly distinguished between food waste and food waste. In addition, food items that could be reused were clearly labeled and stored in a proper manner.

This is what the apprentices from Le Bistro say about the collaboration with Tomatosharp:

"One of the most important tools a chef has in the kitchen is their own knife. It plays a big role in how precise and careful the food we serve is. The collaboration we have had with Tomatosharp has meant that we have not had to think or get annoyed about having dull knives. They are there when we need them and deliver when we need the knives. Having razor-sharp knives made our job much easier, and has undoubtedly played a big role in the good result we were able to achieve!"
