Tomita
Everything is made by hand in very small numbers. Each piece is one of a kind and clearly shows the smith's work.

The story
Tomita is a small, long-established forge from Miki in the Hyōgo area of Japan, a region with several hundred years of knife and tool making. The workshop is led by Tomita-san, who carries on the craft as the second generation, with the focus on classic Japanese forging techniques and practical simplicity.
Production is small and done by hand, with each piece shaped by free-hand forging, not mass production. The work has clean lines, a clear handmade look and details such as hamon and forge scale that reflect both the process and the choice of material.
Today Tomita-san works alone, so production is very limited. Each piece that leaves the workshop is one of a kind and carries the smith's signature, a craft tradition passed down through generations.
