We send the knives back 3–5 working days after we receive them.
Yes. We take most kitchen knives, hunting and outdoor knives and other steel blades, wherever they were bought.
Porcelain and ceramic knives, weapons, hairdressing scissors and other specialist tools. We do sharpen bread knives, with the surcharge in the price list. If you are unsure, get in touch before you send the knife.
Thinning, rust removal and repair of tips and chips are in the price list.
With normal home use, a knife needs sharpening once or twice a year, more often if you use it every day. Between sharpenings, keep the edge straight with a leather strop, see knife care.
Knife care
Wash it by hand and dry it straight away. Carbon steel rusts if the knife is left wet, but in return the edge lasts a long time and is easy to sharpen again.
No. The dishwasher is hard on both the edge and the handle. Wash it by hand, dry the knife, and it will last for years.
Courses
In the workshop at Teknostallen, ten places. Bring your own knife, or restore a Saisei knife; stones and equipment are ready for you. Dates are on the course page.
Saisei
Saisei means rebirth. These are the knives we restore and sell on: Second Hand (used knives, restored in the workshop), OUL Vintage (unused stock from the 1970s) and HADO Factory Seconds (new blades with cosmetic flaws). There is also Saisei IRO: new blades with handles in recycled plastic, moulded at Plasteriet in Trondheim.
Saisei knives go out in drops, on a set date and time. Sign up for the newsletter and you will hear from us before the next drop.
