Craftsperson
NANIWA
Naniwa has made whetstones in Osaka since 1941, and the name comes from the city's old name, Naniwa-kyō. The range goes from coarse stones that set a new edge to fine polishing stones. The Base series is one we often recommend for a first go at sharpening: soft, forgiving stones that are quick to get started with.

The story
Naniwa is a well-known Japanese maker of whetstones for knives and tools, known for its 'splash-and-go' stones, the fast cutting of the Professional/Chosera series and a balance of tradition and new methods, with results that suit both amateurs and professionals around the world.
