Description
Atoma #140 is the most effective sharpening stone we have tried.
It is a flattening plate and coarse sharpening stone in one, used to flatten uneven whetstones or repair deep chips and damage on knives.
We use it every day to clean and flatten our Naniwa whetstones after each sharpening to keep them flat.
Can be used under running water for the best result.
The stone is very well made and will last a long time.
Made in Japan

How to use
Flattening whetstones:
Fix the stone you want to flatten in a holder, ideally in a sink with running water. Hold the Atoma #140 with both hands and rub it in circular movements against the stone until it is flat.
Tip: Draw a cross-hatch pattern over the whole stone with a marker. When the marker is gone, the stone is flat.
Repairing deep chips / a broken tip:
Add a little water as needed so the stone does not dry out while sharpening. Sharpen gently with light pressure. The diamonds remove material very quickly.
Rinse and leave to dry at room temperature after use.
