Takeshi Saji

The story
Takeshi Saji is a well-known Japanese knife smith from Takefu in Fukui Prefecture, known for handmade knives that combine tradition and new ideas. Born in 1948, he is a third-generation knife smith from a family of smiths.
Takeshi Saji's knives are made by hand using traditional techniques, often with steels such as Damascus and VG10. The designs are distinctive and artistic, with handles made of natural materials such as deer antler and exotic woods. The knives are good-looking and also balanced, ergonomic and very practical. Saji keeps many traditional techniques alive and combines them with modern methods, and his knives are valued as tools and as craft around the world.
