Description
The NANIWA Gouken Arata Professional Whetstone #600 is a coarse Japanese whetstone made for fast, efficient stock removal when repairing a knife and as a step towards a sharp knife. With a grit of #600 it suits very dull knives, fixing chips, adjusting the edge angle and other sharpening that needs some material removed.
The stone cuts fast but with good control, which makes it suitable for experienced users and for anyone who wants a reliable coarse stone in their set-up. The Gouken Arata series is made for professional use and offers high consistency, stability and a long life.
NANIWA is known for precision and quality, and this stone works well on both carbon steel and stainless steel. #600 is a natural first step before further work on finer stones.
Gouken Arata is a 'splashing' stone, which means you can sharpen straight after putting water on the stone. We still recommend soaking this stone the first time you use it for better results.
NANIWA
Naniwa has made whetstones in Osaka since 1941, and the name comes from the city's old name, Naniwa-kyō. The range goes from coarse stones that set a new edge to fine polishing stones.
