Description
TOSA Whale Knife are small, precise Japanese knives with a look that balances function and character. Despite their compact size they are very versatile, and work well for serving, small cutting tasks and simple prep in the kitchen. The shapes give good control and make the knives intuitive to use.
The knives are forged from plain carbon steel. As with all carbon steel knives they need simple care: dry the knife well after use to protect the steel.
Made in several shapes, they work as a practical everyday tool and as a thoughtful gift for anyone who likes Japanese simplicity and good craft.

About the knife type: Paring (paring knife)
A paring knife is a small, handy knife for a range of smaller kitchen tasks. It usually has a narrow, pointed blade about 7-10 centimetres long. The paring knife suits peeling, trimming, scoring and cutting small fruit, vegetables and herbs.
Paring knives come in different styles and shapes, but most have a fairly straight blade that makes the cutting movement easy to control. Some paring knives have a curved edge, which makes it easier to peel round shapes such as fruit and vegetables (tourné knife).
This type of knife is useful for detailed work that needs precision and a steady hand. Whether you are removing seeds from a chilli, peeling a potato or making decorative cuts in a lemon slice, the paring knife makes small jobs easier.
Care and maintenance
Carbon steel: rinse and dry the knife right after use. A little dark patina is normal and protects the steel.
Never the dishwasher. Use a cutting board of wood or plastic, not glass or stone.
