Description

Satoshi Nakagawa is one of the best-known smiths in Sakai, and this petty shows why. The blade is forged in Blue #1 carbon steel with a bokashi finish, a soft graded transition that gives the knife a calm, refined look. The handle is magnolia with horn, and the knife comes with a magnolia saya. Carbon steel must be dried well after use.

About the knife type: Petty (utility knife)

A petty is smaller than a chef's knife and has a narrow, pointed blade. It is easy to control when you slice, peel and trim fruit, vegetables and smaller pieces of meat and fish. It also minces onion and garlic well.

About the steel: Blue #1 (Aogami #1)

A carbon steel with added chromium and tungsten, which gives greater wear resistance and hardness. Holds its edge longer than many other steels. Clean and dry straight after use; avoid long exposure to moisture. Over time the steel develops a protective patina that improves rust resistance and gives the blade character.
